Mythology of the Scarab

The inspiration for our Najo Scarab Collection came, unsurprisingly, from the jewels of the Ancient Egyptians.
Jewellery production in Ancient Egypt was prolific. Both gods and humans wore symbolic amulets for various reasons, but mainly to bring luck and protect the wearer from harm – from sickness, natural disasters or accidents. These amulets and talismans were considered to wield significant power for all.
The scarab was the most common amulet as it had perhaps the greatest symbolism of all – the protection of life. The scarab ensured that the sun rose and set every day, and so protected the wearer’s very existence, their rebirth and the worlds regeneration.
