At NAJO, we love designing and creating special jewellery pieces that last a lifetime. Wearing your signature NAJO pieces every day, as intended, can cause it to need a bit of tender, loving, care. So today we are sharing three natural and sustainable ways to clean your jewellery at home and bring the sparkle back to your favourite NAJO piece with our Jewellery Care Guide

To ensure that your sterling silver, rose gold, gold and mixed metal jewellery pieces are continually sparkling, read our guide below on how to not only clean, but also care for your jewellery every day.

Jewellery Storage

To avoid your earrings, necklaces, rings or bracelets from tarnishing, store your jewellery away from direct sunlight at room temperature. Jewellery can be stored on jewellery trees, in pouches or jewellery boxes. We recommend storing fine necklaces and bracelets and bangles in separate pouches as it will prevent tangled chains as well as damaging other jewellery pieces.

Jewellery Cleaning

For intricate jewellery pieces such as rings and earrings, using a soft-bristled tooth brush and mild detergent will help remove and dislodge any dirt caught in the jewellery. Using the NAJO cleaner spray and cleaning cloth regularly will help add a polish and shine back to your jewellery piece.

Daily Wear

Jewellery that contains semi-precious stones and organic materials including pearls, are incredibly sensitive. Jewellery should be the last thing you put on in the morning and the first thing you take off in the evening. Perfumes and moisturisers can damage jewellery over time, whilst delicate pieces can easily be caught on clothing.

Caring for Pearl Jewellery

As pearls are an organic material, pearl jewellery is recommended for occasional wear only. Direct exposure to cosmetics, hair sprays and cleaning agents may affect the lustre and colour of the pearl. They should be cleaned with a soft cloth or warm soapy water.

Caring for Stone Set Jewellery

Stone-set jewellery can be suitable for everyday wear but will depend on the design. Pieces such as the Garland Moonstone Ring, can be worn everyday due its bezel setting style. Stone set jewellery should be cleaned with warm soapy water.
